Forensic services
A significant aspect to my private practice work has been the provision of assessment of offending behavior, risk, and neurodisability issues for the Department of Corrections (Health Assessor), Ministry of Justice (Health Assessor) and the Ministry of Health (Designated Specialist Assessor 2008 - 2016).
I specialise in:
Fitness to Stand Trial and Insanity, section 38 CPMIP
Risk assessment: Pretrial, Sentencing, Parole Board
Neurodisability and offending behaviour
Treatment of sexual and violent offending
Cognitive and neuropsychological assessment
I have appeared as Expert Witness in the High, District, Family, and Youth Courts, and before the New Zealand Parole Board, opining on questions of mental impairment and fitness (CPMIP 2003), disability and risk (IDCCR 2003), and sexual and violent recidivism.
In private practice since 2008, I regularly complete competency/fitness to stand trial reports, risk assessments, and sentencing reports for Courts (youth and adult), and until mid 2016 I also held the designation of Specialist Assessor under the IDCCR Act 2003.
I provide pre-trial comment to defence counsel and have undertaken private work for the Family Court where the issue is related to reoffending risk. I contract to the Department of Corrections where I complete high end risk assessment reports including for preventative detention, extended supervision, and Parole Board assessments.
I provide consultancy services and supervision to a national behaviour support provider, and provide consultant advice to High and Complex Needs teams.
